The 81st issue of the Weekly Economic Bulletin, prepared by the Economic Research Unit of the Department of Economics at Ibn Haldun University, has been released. In this issue, global and domestic economic developments are analyzed, and up-to-date data on the Turkish, U.S., European, and Asian economies are evaluated.
According to some of the highlights from our bulletin, consumer prices in Türkiye increased by 31.75% year-on-year and 1.78% month-on-month in July. Producer prices rose by 27.83% annually and 1.52% monthly. Following the inflation data, the ceiling rate for rent increases was calculated at 31.90%.
Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, announced that an agreement with Iraq will enable the delivery of 750,000 barrels of oil per day to Ceyhan.
According to data from the Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEİAŞ), Türkiye generated 34.7 TWh of electricity in July. Renewable energy sources produced nearly 20.3 TWh, accounting for 58.44% of total electricity generation.
In the United States, 25 states filed a lawsuit against the administration of President Donald Trump over tariffs imposed on imports from 60 U.S. trading partners.
According to the Financial Times, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh is prepared to raise interest rates at the September meeting if inflation data comes in above expectations.
In the European Union, the Producer Price Index (PPI) fell by 0.2% month-on-month in June while increasing by 4.7% year-on-year. In the Eurozone, PPI declined by 0.3% on a monthly basis and rose by 4.6% annually, broadly in line with market expectations.
China's exports increased by 23% year-on-year in July, exceeding market expectations. Imports rose by 27.5%, slightly below forecasts, indicating a moderation compared with the previous month's stronger growth.
On the last trading day of the week, spot gold traded at around $4,266 per ounce, while gram gold stood at approximately ₺6,538.
