Held on June 17–18, 2025, the International Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Applications in Humanities and Social Sciences (AIHSS) brought together academics, AI experts, and interdisciplinary researchers to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the humanities and social sciences. Organized in partnership by Ibn Haldun University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, and Trabzon University under the coordination of our Department of Management, the event provided a comprehensive platform for critical dialogue and innovative approaches.
The first day of the workshop took place at Ibn Haldun University’s Başakşehir Campus. opened with a keynote on AI’s impact in capital markets, crypto assets, and emerging technological initiatives. The day’s sessions explored diverse themes such as AI’s role in modern warfare and civilian protection, gender dynamics in labor markets, the use of language models in social sciences and business, and the transformation of higher education through AI-based leadership and assessment tools. Participants also engaged with topics like digital storytelling in education and innovative hermeneutical models for interpreting sacred texts. The first day's sessions concluded with a panel discussion on the impact of artificial intelligence in the fields of medicine, finance, and business.
The second day of the workshop continued online with a series of presentations. Key topics included the digital reconstruction of cultural heritage sites, normative reasoning in legal traditions, financial narrative analysis in emerging economies, and how research methodologies in the social sciences can be transformed through AI. Other discussions addressed cognitive asymmetries in the digital age, the effects of character AI on younger generations, and the implications of AI on employment diversity and occupational structures. The closing keynote provided insights into the use of AI for financial data analysis, highlighting both its transformative opportunities and the challenges it poses for ethical governance and technical implementation.
The two-day workshop emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and offered an in-depth perspective on the social, cultural, and ethical implications of artificial intelligence.
