AnadoluJet Domestic Revenue Management Manager Nur Akbıyık Çetin was our guest at Ömer Faruk Harman Conference Hall on Tuesday, October 25th. Our faculty members and students showed great interest in the event, which was moderated by one of our faculty members Sümeyye Kuşakcı.
First of all, it was focused on what the aviation, a popular and locomotive sector, experienced after the pandemic and how it will be shaped in the future. Contrary to some pessimistic predictions, Nur A. Çetin stated that aviation is about to reach its pre-pandemic density and will regain its former strength in a short time, and stated that the biggest deficiency in the sector is employment. She underlined that this situation creates a great opportunity for young people. Secondly, the relationship between Turkish Airlines and AnadoluJet brands was mentioned. Our guest introduced us to the "Airline within an Airline" strategy, which was developed as an alternative to low-cost airlines, and AnadoluJet, as a successful application of this strategy, and airlines that follow similar strategies around the world. In this context, she talked about AnadoluJet's strengths and weaknesses and the opportunities and threats surrounding it.
Nur A. Çetin stated that her field of work, Revenue Management, is not about accounting or finance, but rather the process of appraising each seat on a flight. She said that big data and data analysis are very important in aviation as in every field, but this does not eliminate the need for human. She stated that the need for people who will install and use these systems and make the final decision continues.
Finally, our guest made suggestions to young people who want to advance in the field of aviation. Our program was completed with questions from our students and faculty members.
